Position Summary
Seeking three Outreach Specialists to support statewide efforts to end veteran homelessness as part of the Homes to Heroes initiative. Targeted outreach efforts will identify and connect with stakeholders including government agencies, non-profit organizations, housing providers/landlords, employers/workforce development organizations, veterans with lived experience, and other interested parties as applicable. Outreach efforts will be geographically aligned with the three Continuum’s of Care (CoC), Maricopa County, Pima County and, Balance of State (13 Counties). The Outreach Specialists will be responsible for one CoC region.
The Outreach Specialist will facilitate virtual and on-site meetings (individual and group) with stakeholders. These meetings will gather feedback on successful strategies/best practices, the challenges to sustaining and/or scaling them as well as identify gaps in service provision/resource allocation. Additionally, the Outreach Specialist will compile a list of local community services and resources that may not be included on current service oriented data bases. Based on the information gathered, the Outreach Specialist will work with the program coordinator and data analyst to assist with the development of a comprehensive plan aligned with federal, state, and local resources and strategies to ensure a unified approach to addressing veteran homelessness.
Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to think critically, and work within a 7 month timeframe to achieve project objectives.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about ending the experience of homelessness for veterans in Arizona.
Requirements
One year experience in community outreach, or a similar role.
Strong verbal communication and meeting facilitation skills.
Ability to build relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Experience using social media and other digital tools for outreach and engagement purposes.
Experience using virtual meeting software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
Knowledge of HUD-VASH, SSVF, GPD, and other federal housing programs.
Knowledge of best practices in homeless services.
Familiarity with data analysis and program evaluation.
Live in and have the ability to travel, as needed, throughout the assigned CoC region in Arizona, i.e., Maricopa County, Pima County, or Balance of State (13 Counties outside of Maricopa and Pima).
Knowledge of veteran specific and general homeless service resources and key stakeholders within the assigned region.
Attend all virtual team and individual meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communication or related field.
Knowledge of SWOT analysis.
Military service experience or background in working with veteran populations.
Person with lived experience.
Working Conditions:
This position is remote with a laptop and cellphone provided.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for community events or stakeholder meetings.
