The Legal Secretary 1 position offers clerical support to the Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) at the Office of Appeals. This is required to be an in-person job in the central/north Phoenix area. This position is critical to the Office of Appeals and is the starting point and ending point for hearings and appeals for various public assistance programs. Primary duties for this position include processing incoming documents, registering parties for hearings, entering case documentation and exhibits for a hearing, and mailing as well as uploading decisions issued by the judges. This position is unique in that it offers on-the-job training and an opportunity to open the door to state work, learning vital skills that will help you promote or get hired by the state, as well as a chance to work in a team environment where the main focus is the success of our team members as well as helping our customers in the public.
Skills Required
Answer initial-level phone calls, work the front desk, and process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes. Upload documents to a database. Explain hearing procedures to parties in-person and over the phone. All of these will get on the job training.
Experience Required
English speaking, writing, and reading. Familiarity with computers and office environments. Ability to learn as you go and deal with tight deadlines. Some experience with Microsoft Office and Google programs. Experience with customer service.
Education Required - High School Diploma
