Position Summary:
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Veteran Homeless Program Coordinator to lead statewide efforts to end veteran homelessness. This role will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive plan aligned with federal, state, and local resources and strategies. The coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between government agencies, non-profit organizations, housing providers, veteran service organizations, and community partners to ensure a unified approach to addressing veteran homelessness.
Schedule:
Working 8:00am-4:00pm, 40 hours per week. Monday- Friday, (1 day in office required, the day is flexible). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for community events or stakeholder meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Program Implementation
• Lead the development, writing, and execution of a statewide strategic plan to end veteran homelessness in Arizona.
• Establish measurable goals, benchmarks, and timelines aligned with the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and HUD/VASH guidelines.
• Coordinate and oversee implementation efforts with Continuums of Care (CoCs), VA Medical Centers, local governments, and community-based organizations.
• Regularly evaluate and adjust the strategy based on performance data, feedback, and emerging best practices and provide recommendation for future funding based on gaps in services.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies, veterans' service providers, housing authorities, landlords, employment agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate regular cross-sectoral meetings and working groups to ensure alignment of services and resources.
• Act as a liaison between the state government and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, HUD, and other relevant entities.
Program Management & Oversight
• Support and veteran homelessness programs, including housing navigation, supportive services, case management, and rapid rehousing initiatives.
• Monitor funding streams and coordinate with grant administrators to ensure optimal use of federal, state, and philanthropic resources.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to support program sustainability.
Data & Reporting
• Utilize Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data and VA data systems to track progress toward functional zero.
• Develop regular reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders, policymakers, and the public.
• Ensure all efforts are data-driven, evidence-based, and trauma-informed
• Develop a comprehensive list of resources available to veterans statewide by county.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Public Health, Urban Planning, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in homelessness services, veteran services, or program coordination.
• Deep understanding of the unique challenges facing veterans experiencing homelessness.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing large-scale strategic plans or initiatives.
• Knowledge of HUD-VASH, SSVF, CoC, and other federal veteran housing programs.
• Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation.
• Ability to travel throughout the state of Arizona as needed.
• Experience working with a data analytics team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Military service experience or background in working with veteran populations.
• Familiarity with Arizona’s homeless service delivery system and key stakeholders.
• Experience managing or supporting federal and state grants.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
• This position is hybrid and will be required to work in office 1 day out of the week, day is flexible
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for community events or stakeholder meetings.
• Travel within Arizona will be necessary to engage with regional partners.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Public Health, Urban Planning, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in homelessness services, veteran services, or program coordination.
- Knowledge of HUD-VASH, SSVF, CoC, and other federal veteran housing programs.
