POSITION OVERVIEW: The Storage Administrator provides support, administration, and maintenance with the installation, configuration, performance, and operations of SAN/3PAR and EMC storage systems . This position will perform hands on tasks to manage and maintain the storage and related technologies. They will also provide system management in support of all storage platforms. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum education and/or experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Business, or a technology related field and three (3) years of experience in supporting, administering, and maintaining the installation, configuration, performance and operations of storage systems. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: • EMC and SAN/3PAR and Brocade Fabric technologies • Microsoft Windows Server technologies • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server technologies • Different storage hardware components, peripherals, and software • Troubleshooting connectivity/configuration issues related to storage and fabric • Upgrading storage software and firmware versions • Server virtualization and administration in relation to storage • File shares and Distributed File System shares • Capacity planning, replication planning, and data migration between storage systems Skill in: • Microsoft and Red Hat server operating systems • Storage systems, fabric, and network monitoring • Installation, configuration, backup, patching, testing, and troubleshooting storage systems • NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC, and FCoE • Veritas backup software and appliances Ability to: • Adjust to changes in priorities without difficulty and manage time effectively. • Communicate effectively and professionally with personnel at all organizational levels. Preferred education and/or experience: EMC or SAN/3PAR certifications a plus. Three (3) years of experience in a storage administrator role within an enterprise environment. Experience with Storage Infrastructure. Red Hat Enterprise administration, Microsoft Windows Server administration, and/or data migration tools. Working conditions: Job requires participation in a 24X7 on-call rotation that requires the addressing of critical issues at various locations throughout the Judicial Branch. ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS: • Monitors new and existing storage systems for potential problems and provides prompt and accurate resolution. • Builds, configures, deploys, administers, performs backups, upgrades, and maintains storage systems. • Contributes to and maintains storage system standards. • Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. • Completes ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. • Builds hardware and software deployment and maintenance plans. • Develops and maintains written documentation related to processes, procedures, and system specifications. • Evaluates and recommends new software and support tools. • Develops training/user awareness of storage feature updates. • Performs Hyper-V System and VMware administration. • Performs EMC Storage and HP 3PAR administration. • Performs Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration • Reviews storage logs and monitors performance. • In case of an incident, initiates escalation with vendors. • Sets permissions within storage applications. • Manages and monitors storage services and infrastructure. • Assists with the migration of large volumes of data between storage platforms. • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with user access to storage services. • Maintains a good understanding of upcoming changes to the platforms to assist with user change management. • Assists with the creation of policies around the proper use of storage services
