This position requires an individual to coach, teach, mentor and provide direct support to members who have Developmental Disabilities (i.e., autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability or epilepsy) ranging from mild to profound. The majority of services are designed to meet personal needs of members in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and group home settings.

This position performs a variety of activities:

  • Provide activities and programming that encourage development of new skills and maintaining present skills.
  • Works with members to teach or assist them in activities of daily living skills (bathing, toileting, dressing, meal time/eating, attending day/work programs, etc.).
  • Performs some housekeeping duties (e.g., dusting, clothes washing, dishes, mopping, disinfecting therapy equipment and wheelchairs).
  • Prepares, cooks, sets up, and serves meals, as needed.
  • Supports mealtime techniques and service in accordance with specialized diets.
  • Implements the member's Individual Support Plan, including behavior support plan and therapeutic programs.
  • Participates in team meetings and discussions to develop individual support plans for the members.
  • Provides basic health care (e.g., medication administration).
  • Encourages and involves members in recreational activities at home and in the community. Flexibility in schedule (i.e., work different shift, overtime and change work locations) as these are 24-hour residential settings.
  • Most schedules work nights, weekends and holidays. Requires lifting/carrying at least 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling at least 50 lbs.

Additional Information

All resources must attend orientation. Orientation occurs on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Resources must confirm their schedule at orientation, changes to schedule will be based on business need. Resources must acknowledge that they are expected to maintain appropriate staffing ratios - this means if there is a call in for the next shift, they may have to provide coverage. There is a rotating pull list - all direct care staff are added to the pull list. Resources are required to take a 30 minute, unpaid lunch, for every 8 hours worked. Timesheets must be submitted no later then noon on Monday (for the previous week), with a supervisor or approved proxy signature to the administrator for time verification and approval with XRM.

  10. Resources shall be searched in the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry
  11. Resources will be for AM/PM (Overnight shift/Dayshift/2nd shift)
  12. Must be willing to work weekends
