It is essential that this candidate follows written and verbal instructions, follows established guidelines, determines the appropriate medical experience a physician should have to review specific cases. Under the direction of the Investigations Manager, the Outside Medical Consultant (OMC) Coordinator acts as a liaison between the investigative staff and the medical consultants engaged to review cases for the Board.
The OMC Coordinator is responsible for managing the OMCs, who review electronic confidential case files and prepare and submit a report to the Arizona Medical Board regarding their conclusion of the case. This involves ensuring the OMC policy is being followed. This requires effectively coordinating and tracking dissemination of confidential investigative material, which is primarily managed electronically, to the appropriate Medical Consultant in a timely manner and coordinating with the Business Office/Support Services Office for return of the material and payment for services rendered.
Day to Day Tasks include:
Initiating the process to obtain a Medical Consultant to review investigative cases entering data into database during each phase of the investigative case placement process through completion of review and the consultant’s submission of reporting
Respond to all inquiries from the Medical Consultants related to case assignments (I.e. problems accessing the website, problems downloading files, and the need for additional information)
Establishing and assigning timeframes with due dates
Follow-up with the Medical Consultant to ensure timely submission of medical reviews and return of confidential materials provided for the review
Assist with processing payments requests to the Business
Office/Support Services Office for all case reviews. Request W9s forms from the Medical Consultants when necessary and interact with the Business Office/Support Services Office for same. Respond to Medical Consultants inquiries regarding payments
Miscellaneous – Assist other departments, when necessary, in the administration of the Board’s duties.
